President's Message
Kim Ferguson
At the end of March 2009, I attended the National ASID Presidents’ forum in St. Louis. While some Chapter Presidents were not able to make the trip, most did and it was a productive partial two days. We reviewed the organizations’ view on legislation, supporting title acts throughout the States. We discussed how each state is unique and should be discussed on a per state basis. We learned all about the nominating process and how National is working to eventually get the voting online. The National by-laws will have to be amended in order for this to happen but it is being researched now. We also spent time sharing ideas across Chapters. We were paired up with Chapters of different sizes so that we could glean from those Chapters both larger and smaller than our own. We have an innovative and resourceful group of members….clearly a strong and active Chapter even though we are one of the smaller Chapters.
We have excellent opportunities coming up for educational and social/networking events….events with a cause. Please update your calendar and consider attending the Mini-Conference, Showhouse Sneak Peak, IP Wine Tasting, Golf Tournament, and Project Awards to name a few. The IP Wine Tasting benefits the Friendship House, a community service project and the Golf Outing benefits our community service project and our 3rd Year Scholarship Fund. The Showhouse project is our major fundraising event for the year and the Sneak Peak weekend is your chance to see the house in the “before” state.
As Earth Day approaches, I challenge you to change one thing in your life that will help to reduce your impact on the environment.
